My Campaign Platform

The San Mateo County Coroner may be an obscure elected position, but it is one of the county departments that all of us will interact with at some point in our lives.

I am running for Coroner because this department needs a leader with the ability to treat San Mateo County families and their loved ones with compassion and respect. The Coroner’s office needs a manager with the relevant experience to make more sound judgments on very delicate end of life issues.

All my life, I have been interested in end of life issues and helping communities understand death as part of the continuum of life, deserving of more care and concern from public officials. Quite simply, I will help the Coroner’s office better care for the souls that come through this office and the needs of their families and then get out of the way.  With a law enforcement background and a Masters in Business Administration, I also have the management and organizational skills necessary to bring competence and confidence back to the department’s administrative and law enforcement functions.

When I am elected, I will:

• Establish clear, common sense standards for keeping families informed on issues concerning organ and tissue donation and research.

• Work with the San Mateo County Health System to improve access to hospice care, end of life information, and services for San Mateo County families.

I hope this explains why I am running for Coroner.   I humbly ask for your vote, because I believe I am tough enough to get the job done.
